Yes my pontiac grand prix is doing a very fast idle and then dies right away when starting it

Welcome, you might check the throttle valve and linkage, make sure the throttle isn't hanging open. If your still obd 1 compliant, check trouble codes, you can do that yourself. With a speed density system, a vacuum leak, will cause the idle to go up. Take the throttle-body off and clean it.
