Is it likely that I've incured head damage when my timing belt broke / or is this an interferance engine?

Yes they are, these timing belts are a pain to replace, getting the timing marks lined up is a real pain in the butt. Post back with any other questions.

Yes they do, because when the belt broke(I assume while you were driving) it will hang most of the valves open causing the piston on the up stroke to hit some of the valves, bending them. If you want to test if the valves are bent, you can 1 do a cylinder leak down test and listen for any air in the intake or exhaust or 2 remove the heads and check the valves.
