hi I have a 93 grand prix and the ignition switch will not turn back far enough to lock,I heard that this is a common problem with these and I was wondering if this is something I could fix myself? and if so where do I start?

the reason why the key gets stuck in the ignition is because the automatic shifter is pushed up too far. To solve this problem you simply have to remind yourself not to push it up so far or if you forget you simply have to pull your shifter slightly (no more than a few millimeters) towards reverse (R).
