Electrical problem
1992 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

When I turn on the headlights, the fuse that governs the taillights, instrument panel and 4-way flashers shorts out intermittently. Sometimes it shorts immediately upon turning on the headlights. Sometimes it shorts out after driving for less than an hour (with headlights on). What can I do to locate and fix the short?

This would be caused by a short to ground, so best place to start is engine compartment, where the wiring is subject to heat and can lose insulation.

Check for any wiring harness next to exhaust, or exhaust leak, or wiring harness covers that are cracked/melted.
