Our car starts and idles, but once yyou give it gas it dies

First thing to do is check the fuel pressure with a mechanical gauge. Pressure on a multi-port engine should be 40-45psi. They may idle at a lower pressure, but would not run at anything above.

This could be a clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump, or a ruptured fuel pressure regulator.
Bu you need to have the fuel pressure checked before you do anything else.
