I have a 99 Pontiac Grand Am. Whenever I put my key in the ignition, I can't turn the key to start it. Does anyone know what's wrong and what part I need to replace it?

I am having the exact same problem, exact same car. I bought a new ignition cylinder hoping that would fix it, but I am stuck in the process because to remove the old one, the key has to be able to turn! I posted a question about it on here, so maybe I will find an answer for both of us!

There can only be two common solutions.
One: the cylinder is worn out.
Two: the starter switch is physically worn out, it is usually located at about knee level, on the steering wheel shaft.
