I have a few different symptoms that may or may not be related. The first issue I am having is that my car jumps when it is shift from park to drive and sometimes from first to second. The second issue I am having is that the car shakes while driving, the faster you go the faster it shakes. The third issue that I am having is when I stop the car jumps until you come to a complete stop. Almost like the tires are not round. Please advise as to what would be the first best step to get the problem resolved. I know there are probably several different problems. I am just not sure which order to attack them in. Thanks for the help!

First, is the engine reving higher than a normal idle when you feel it jump? Does it do it all the time? Has the check engine light come on?

Next, the shaking could be a couple things. Are the tires in good condition? Have you had the tire balance checked? When driving, does it feel like it is out of alignment?

Finally, the feeling you get when using your brakes tells me the brake rotors are warped. If they are good enough, you can have them cut. However, if they are too thin, they will need replaced.

Let me know.

Joe

The jump when shifting problem occurs about 90% of the time. And the tires are bad. The alignment is not bad. The check engine light has been on since I installed an aftermarket intake.

Oh and the engine does not rev higher than normal. In fact the car shifts well it just jumps right at the point of shifting. If you start the car with the hood up and have someone shift from park to drive you can see the engine jump as though the mounts or a mount is broken but I thought that the jumping would be more violent and get progressively worse however its been doing this for over a year.

It has been a while since I had the machine put on it so I don't remember the code but it was something to do with the air flow system they said when I had it checked a while back.

It sounds like there is a problem with the mass air flow sensor (MAF). Have it rechecked.
