Computer problem
2004 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl Automatic

I failed state inspection for emmisions. They told me I needed a new gas cap and a new battery. So I replaced both. Well the OBD system still failed me. They said I need to take to mechanic to reset. Is there a way I can do this myself?

Hello,

If you have fixed the gas cap and you know this is the reason the "service engine soon" light came on then you can disconnect the negative cable from the battery for about 5 minutes and then reconnect it. This will erase the fault code only if the problem is fixed of course. hope this helps
