Six cylinder 60,000 miles.

I am unable to get my car out of park. I turn the car on, it turns on just fine but when I put my foot on the brake to move the car from park it will not move. The brake lights are working so I think it may be the BTSI. However, I have no idea how to override this so I can drive my car to the mechanic.

Floor shifter? remove covers to gain access to the shifter assembly. Test the dark green/white wire for power when brake is depressed, if it has it the solenoid is probably bad. Once in there you should be able to move the lock assembly out of the way so you can drive it.

My Grand Am did the same thing. I grabbed the parking lever and shook it pretty good and it worked after that.
