2003 Pontiac Grand Am Shift handle

I need to repalce the shift handle for the automatic transmission as the release button keeps popping out. How do I remove the old handle, I cannot see if it is screwed on or pressed on. I have already purchaed the repalecement part but cannot see how the old one is removed?

Most GM cars use a small clip on front of handle. Shift to "L" and look at base of shifter.
