The oil light keeps coming on a random times and when that happens there is a loud tapping noise in the engine. The oil is full and just recently changed out. What is causing this?

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge sounds like the oil pump pressure relief valve sticking

ok thanks but how would i go about doing that?? i know some about cars but not a whole lot

Find the oil pressure switch remove it hook the gauge and start vehicle and read the oil pressure.
