2003 Pontiac Grand Am Heater fan

My heater fan has stopped working in the 1, 2 and 3 positions; I have to set it to the 4 position to get it to blow. What do you suppose happened to the first 3 fan settings?

Blower resistor bad look under dash pass side see motor to left wires connected to resistor remove take out screws replace.
