2003 Pontiac Grand Am Car turned off on own

I was driving a good 45 minutes when the oil pressure light and the battery charge system light went on and the car went dead. I have just changed the battery two months ago so i don't think that was it plus the power did not go out. But i had not changed or checked the oil in about 6 months. After i coasted over to the side i turned the car completed off and then turned it back on and it did turn on. I continued driving and it started puttering but did not turn off. So my question is what could is possiable be wrong with the car

if your low on oil then your engine is probably damaged. running a engine out of oil even for a minute will do irreversable damage.

Were the lights dimming while driving? Radio shorting out, a sickly beep that faded away and then came back? I had this problem on a 1996 Chevy Blazer, it turned out to be a bad alternator. The car would start, but only drive for about 5 minutes then die, the alternator couldnt keep the car charge, but the battery was fine to start the car.

No.. I changed the oil this morning and it did have about 4 quarts in there.

there was nothing like that happening just completly quick running.

does the vehicle crank over? if it does we need to know if you have spark and fuel pressure. you can check spark by placing a screwdriver inside spark plug side of wire and place near ground and crank engine and see if there are any sparks.
