My mother has a 2002 Pontiac Gand Am it has 140000 miles on it and the service engine light just came on. I had it on a computer and it says it's miss firing. My question is could it be the coil packs cause it has new wires and plugs?

Welcome to the forum, what was the actual code? P0300 is random misfire, probably something common to all cylinders. P0301--P0306 that is a misfire for specific cylinder. It could be fuel-- spark-- just about anything.
