reeks of gasoline when I start the engine?

My 9 year old Pontiac reeks of gasoline when I start the engine. When I pull out of a parking spot, I do not visibly see a puddle of gas or any signs of leakage from under my car. The smell goes away after I drive my car for a while, and does not return until the next time when I start my engine.

Hello,

More than likely you have a fuel leak under the hood. Keep in mind that fuel evaporates faster then other liquids, so even if few drops get on the ground it will evaporate fairly quickly.
The leak could be some where in the fuel rail, the fuel pressure regulator or a leaky injector seal.
Do a thorough inspection of the fuel components under the hood.
You might want to turn on the key, to see where the leak might be coming from.
Check the lines that goes to the pressure regulator and around the regulator for any leak.

Inspect the fuel rail, look at each connections for any sign of leakage.
