My son has a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am. It has been running fine but two weeks ago the check engine light came on. The code was P0301 so we changed the plugs, wires and coil pack for the 1-4 cylinder but no help. The code was cleared but has returned. The fuel pressure is 46 psi and jumps to 50 psi when the engine is ramped up. He tells me the the car runs fine except has a rough idel at a stop light. The car is also running a little hot 210-220 degrees and the coolant seems to disappear. The intake manifold has been replaced by the dealer in the past.

OH when replacing the spark plugs original from the factory the #1 plug was cross threaded.

What should I do next?

First off, go to dexcoolsettlement. Com and get some of your money back on the intake repair, if it failed again, you can submit that one too.

You need to pressure test the cooling syetem and find where the coolant is going. I suspect the #1 cyl. After the system has been under pressure for an hour or so with the #1 plug out, you can turn it over and check for any coolant spraying out of that cylinder. That is where I would start.
