2001 Pontiac Grand Am hesitation

does the check engine light come on? does it flash? take it to autozone they will scan it for free then give us the codes and we can go from there. did you replace the spark plugs and the wires?

well this is the hard part, trying to send you down a path without test driving vehicle. i have a lot of experience with these vehicles and in my experience what you are describing is a ignition skip. i think you are going to find a problem in ignition system like a faulty coil cover, wire or spark plug. thats in my experience. let us know how you make out.
