What causes the dome light to illuminate when you apply the brakes and the car is almost stopped?

check your door and other doors if any open or the door switch maybe at fault
you can check with the scanner which is open by scanning the BCM

Check by the brake pedal to make sure there are no wires rubbing when you depress the pedal.
