The only thing I can tell you is this, to over ride it, turn the key to the run position and wait about 10 minutes and the light should go off and the engine should start. As far as the problem, try a different key. If that doesn't help, you need to take it to a dealer to have it checked. They are the only ones that have the proper test equipment to check it. It could be a number of things.
