2000 Pontiac Grand Am security / passlock

My car regularily leaves me stranded, the security light flashes and the car will not start, I have to put the ignition on and wait for 10 minutes until it clears itself, once the security light stops flashing I have to shut it off and restart it.
this happens every other time I start it.

Try resetting the security pic is proper way to do it.
