2000 Pontiac Grand Am security light then wont start

2000 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 82000 miles

the security light will come on then after the car is turned off it wont start. I can leave key on for 10 minutes and then it will start up and be normal how can I solve this problem

You have to relearn the security system to reconize your key. Look in the owner's manual for procedure.

I just had this same problem. My mechanic put a new ignition switch in and it hasn't had the problem since (knock on wood!). It cost me around $100 but was worth every penny!
