My car makes this annoying sound when I am idling in drive gear at a stop light or in park. If I place in neutral the noise quiets down a litll bit but not as loud. It sounds like a rattling noise in the transmission but the gears shift great and the car does not hesitate at all. CONFUSED not sure if it even is the tranny.

If the car shifts great, it's less likely the tranny is the problem, but do not rule it out. It's funny how little Sounds can be heard and be from a totally different spot than where you think it may be from. Without actually taking your car for a drive, i would suspect somethng near or around the Serp belt could be loose or causing a vibration. Your tranny is on the drivers side and the serp belt is on the passenger side. If there is a loose pully or pulley bearing starting to go, or the belt showing excessive wear, could be concern.
