I brought my car in to have the headlight bulb replaced because they only worked on highbeams. They changed the bulbs and the headlights will only work when the car is in park, and they no longer work while with the highbeams. So I don't have head lights while driving.

The repair shop stated they couldn't fix the problem because GM doesn't allow them to access the Body Control Module.

Do you have an estimate of the charges to repair the BCM? Is the BCM the problem?

Never heard that one.

If it was the BCM, they should be able to give you an error code (BCM codes start with a "B").

I would go to another garage.

And the plot thickens.
Last night I discovered the headlights WILL work if the dash board lights are illuminated. (Meaning it is dark enough for it to happen)
Which is a good thing, I guess.

Is the BCM replacements expensive?

I love a good mystery. But not when it is at my expense.

I am not sure why they mentioned the BCM, I see no "B" codes for the headlights in the library.

"B" codes are airbag system and other electrical components in car (heated seats, Security etc).

Have them scan the BCM for error codes.
