September 2008 I filled up with a bad tank of gas and ever since then I have the following problem:
After driving non-stop for exactly 100kms, my 2000 Grand Am will stall while driving at least 80km/hour. I pull over and let the car sit for about 2 to 3 minutes, then drive about 12 kms and the car stalls again. If I sit in park, the car will run no problem. Right before the car stalls, the RPMs go right down to 0, and the gas pedal deflates all the way to the floor with no 'juice'.
I have taken it in to my mechanic and had the injection system replaced (with all 6 spark-plugs), I've had the fuel pump checked, alternator, etc. The mechanic now thinks it may be the crank sensor because once that gets too hot, it stalls the car.
Today, for the first time, my car stalled after only driving for 10 minutes, after not driving the car for 2 days. I suspect the crank sensor because our temperatur outside went from -15Celcius to +10Celcius in less than 24 hours.
Please help me because this is driving me crazy, I couldn't drive long distances before and now short distances. Other than this problem, my car is in great shape and drives really good, lots of power.
