I got this starter car for my girl rather cheap
Engine will turn over but will not start, dont even sound like its trying to. Checked for spark which is a go. Checked compression none on any cylinder.
I sprayed wd40 in all cylinders now I have compression on 1 cylinder but thats it.
Just wondering where to start looking "cams, timing chain etc."

Remove the valve cover and rotate the engine by hand (ratchet on the balancer pulley) and see if the valves/cams are moving.

Thanx mmprince I just finished doing just that b4 I even read my emails to see that you had responded
Yes the cam is turning as I turn the balancer pulley so by that I take it that the timing chain is doing its job
What would your next step be?

Rotate to TDC#1. Check that valves (intake and exhaust are closed, then rotate to next cylinder firing order and check that valves are closed.
If all valves are closed, check headbolts to make sure they are not broken.


If everything is OK, then you have a headgasket problem, burnt valves, warped head, burnt pistons, cracked head. In any case the head will have to come off and see what it causing the no compression problem.
