It has a horrible sputtering problem for a year. Finally it is sputtering so bad now that it won't even move. The car runs but when i press the gas it dies. I replace the coil covers that connect to the spark plug boots which i replaced to. And spark plugs. On the scanner it says that #1 and # 3 cyclinders are missing. So the engine is getting gas. Any suggestions?

Yes I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand AM 4 cyl 2.4 with 225000 miles and I had the same problem but it was multiple misfiring on 1 and 4. I brought 2 brand new coils and installed them as soon as I did the same problem you had corrected itself. If you want to take more time to save money you can try to figure out which coil controls 1 and 3 and if one of them controls both just replace one mine cost $33.00 a piece. Good Luck
