2000 Pontiac Grand Am Car Stalling/Coil packs?

My 2000 Grand Am stalls when I’m idling at a stop and occasionally when I’m driving. We have changed the fuel filter and the spark plugs. We have also changed the plugs 20,000 miles ago and they were not clean. It still is stalling on me. Now I’m thinking that it might be the coil packs. Can a regular volt meter check a coil packs resistance in ohms? What should a new one read, not hooked up? How would you check it and could it be anything else?

I would start by checking fuel pressure with a mechanical gauge.

Some autoparts stores can check the coil packs (you would have to remove and take them in), and I would call first and make sure they can test them, this is a free service.
