HI i have a 2000 grand am that recently blew the engine out i know the car if it was in good condition ,is worth about 2500.to replace the motor would cost at least that i asked the tech what he would do and he said he would sell it to a junk yard and he could have them pick it up for me he said that they would probably give me about 250 dollars with a clean title i just want to know if that sounds about right.

yep thats about all scrap yards give you for non running vehicles. you would be much better off to keep the car and either put new motor in it or at the very least just part it out. you could easily get over 250$ out of the parts. sell locally or online such as ebay , craigslist etc... popular parts would be things like power steering pump or maybe power window switch, radio etc..
