1999 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I got a new engine put in my 99 grand am and a couples day later a check engine service light come up when i went to the check the engine light is say that EVAP I changed the gas cap but the light is still on please help. what else could be the problem and can you explained what EVAP mean,
