1999 Pontiac Grand Am engine tapping noise

I bought a 99 grand am / engine is 3400 sfi / afer 2 weeks I got a loud tapping noise.I told the dealer he looked at it and said that engine is known for it? Nothing he can do.The car will be fine he said.The car does run fin and burns no oil.I can live with the noise if I have to but I just want to be sure the engine will not die on me

Most likely a lifter, pushrod problem or possible oiling problem.

NO it is not normal or known for it.
