well i have a 1999 pontiac grand am and i had just installed a short ram intake. So i took it for a test drive and when i had come back to my garage i started to hear a tapping sound in the engine everytime i accelerated. So i was wondering if you could please help me.

Check the intake gasket for leaks and remove valve cover, inspect cam/valve operation by rotating engine by hand (ratchet and socket on balancer bolt), make sure valves/cams are working properly.

Check for coolant in oil.
