Please help me! My car was running fine besides the gas fumes I could smell every once in a while. And then as I am driving, the whole car just shut down. Changed the fuel pressure regulator because it looked like it was leaking, that did not fix it. Told husband to change fuel filter but he said that it was getting alot of fuel to where the regulator goes on "there shouldn't be anything wrong with it"? Car will attempt to start and when you gas it, it sounds like it has a bad cough and only last about 3-4 seconds or exhaust leak, Lol. Sorry It is hard to explain. I hooked it up to scanner and it says PASS No Codes everything checked ok. I am trying to figure it out before he gets home :) Do not want to put it in shop

Is this car running as we speak? Will it start and run is what I am asking. This car should have a mass air flow meter (I will include pic) and what I would like you to do first is get some Mass Air Flow cleaner and remove the MAF and clean the inside of it and then put it back and see what it does. Lets start with the simple and cheap and go from there.

It will not start. It attempts to but, just will not do it. I will try the cleaner and let you know. I appreciate it so much!

Ok try that first. I would also like you to unplug the sensor and try to start it. If it will run and idle for any time at all (like a minute or so) then you need to just replace that sensor. Let me know what you find ok.
