1999 Pontiac Grand Am

When I bought my car they told me the drivers window did not work. It is being held up by a wooden stick inside the door panel. But when I press the switch, there is a sound and it sounds like the window is going up and down, but it is not moving. Is it off the track or something else?

What you are hearing is window regulator motor. You would have to remove interior door pane to see what they did.
