Noises problem
1998 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl 150000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I purchased this vehicle a couple of days ago as a 3rd car. I heard some funny noises and took it to our mechanic which said it was probably the lifters. But wouldn't know unless they looked at the engine. Which will cost to much money. Is this a danger to drive this vehicle the way it is? Is there an easy fix for it, or do we have to go into the engine?

Thanks so much,
Tamara

lifters are quite common for making noise in these engines. i would suggest trying mystery oil to the crankcase on next oil change. sometimes it works.
