1997 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My grand am gt transmission locked up on the car shortly after buying it. I need to find the cheapest way to fix it. Is it possible to swap my transmission out for a transmission from a 01-02 grand prix? If not, what do I have to do for the cheapest fix that won't f*** up in a couple months. Thanks!

Cheapset way to do it is get one out of a junk yard. The newer trans will have different electrical hookups. The junk yard ones are usually guanteed and are kind of low mileage transmissions.
