when I shift from park to reverse and or drive I hear a squeak grind noise about .5 seconds long; alot more noticeable since its got cold. I have not noticed any problem with my transmission shifting. I put about a half a pint of fluid once I noticed it was a little low, but that did not solve the problem. I did a transmission fluid, gasket, filter change 50000 mi. ago. I can slightly hear a squeak when I begin to accelerate from a stop. What does my problem sound like?

You need to narrow down the source. I would get it in the air and go through the motions to make it happen and see if it is coming from the tranny or not.

IF the fluid was low and if it was for a while, I would be concerned about it being the tranny not to mention the length of the time since it was last had a filter replacement.

I don't know that the squeek and the grind are from the same source either.
