1997 Pontiac Grand Am
----------------------------------------------------------------
Are we getting ripped off here? We were told from 3 mechanics that all we had to do was replace the head gaskets and the car would be running fine (it was blowing out white smoke and not cooling properly). We hired a mechanic to do this job from his home. He replaced all the gaskets. We paid him. The car is WORSE. It still blows smoke and there is shaking. The (just changed) oil is a white-ish color (like 2% milk). Now this guy said our engine is cracked and the car is shot. The thing that makes us very suspicious is that this guy seems like a flake and he has been pushing this other "used, but in great condition" car that he was trying to get us to buy (it belongs to his sister). Bottom line, we don't trust him. Did he do this job properly, or did we get screwed? He took the last of our money too. We are so fed up and disgusted.

Is it a 2.4L or a 3.1L engine?
