Hi my 1996 pontaic runs great, when I got it, it went striaght to the shop, their was a problem with its cooling system. So far all I know from my experences with this car is that it just runs hot. I've recently(about 2-3 months ago) had the themostat, water pump, and oil changed. And a tune up, My temp reading on the dash is close to the red zone, and this is only driving in the city even short long distances. I'm afriad to go to far with this car because i'm afriad its gonna overheat and cut off on me. I've asked some other pontiac owners (same make and model) of the there average running temperture on theirs and it runs 1/2 or to about 3/4 of the needle on a regular day. I even had the radiator flushed and it ran better ( the temperature was lower by a little) in terms of its cooling. My radiator fan works fine and theres nothing wrong with my radiator cap, is there any way I have this car running at a decent temperature?

If you replaced the t-stat, flushed the radiator, and the fan is working, I feel the problem still lies in the radiator. If they plug bad enough, a simple flush won't fix it. It will need rodded out or replaced.
