please help,I checked power steering fluid and it was empty filled it up and something smells like it is burning.car makes whining sounds when i turn and when i accelerate going straight..any help would be appreciated...thanks james

Check the pressure and return lines for leaks, make sure the PS tank is full, if whining continues, the pump would need to be replaced and any leaks fixed.

You may try a PS additive that stops PS pump noise first, see if it helps, but most likely the seals/bearings are gone.
