1996 Pontiac Grand Am head gasket

i took my car to a shop and they say my head gasket needs to be replaced and i was quoted 1400 dollars to fix it....is that high or a normal price range?

Yep $1400 is about right. You might as well replace the whole engine for about $1000 more. I had the same problem. 3.1l3100sfi is known for that. Good Luck
