The battery light on the dash lit up & the dashboard lighting dimmed. Shortly afterwards the engine stalled. I was able to restart the engine after 6 tries but loud noise came from engine and the battery light remained on.

Inspect the drivebelt and look around closely for any unusual within that area. Lights dimming could mean an alternator problem-get it load tested
