Electrical problem
1995 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl 97,000 miles

I am in the process of purchasing a 1995 Grand Am for my son. My dad (who is by no means a mechanic) checked out the car and everything looks okay except the low beam headlights do not work. The parking lights work fine. The high beams lights stay on as long as you hold the lever, but the low beam headlights do not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

welcome to the forum, sounds like the multifunction switch has a problem. If you want to test wiring circuit, Lite green wire is voltage for high beam, tan wire is voltage for low beam. The voltage circuit to headlamp switch is orange, hot all the time. There may be a multiwire connector under the dash, close to steering column, for circuits going to and from the steering column. You can check the wiring circuits, there. All repair info, say to disarm air-bag, where applicable, when working around steering column.
