Engine Cooling problem
1995 Pontiac Grand Am Front Wheel Drive Manual 106000 miles

I drove my car yesterday, 7-25-2009. Pulled up to my parents house, went in for an hour. Then left, the dashboard said "low coolant" and my car instantly pinged up to about 260 degrees. Thus overheating. I free clutched it all the way down the overpass to a gas station and asked a serviceman there. We looked in the coolant and it was completely empty. I bought some antifreeze and poured some in, it started leaking, then we got some regular water to see where we could find the problem. My dad told me it is a valve somewhere against the firewall and we have no idea what its called or anything.

Make sure engine is cold and pour water in radiator then look for leak, either a hose or plastic fitting has broke.

NEVER run engine that has overheated, you take a considerable risk of cracking a head or headgasket.
