While checking coolant level I noticed that it was low. So I refilled it to acceptable level. Then I left the reservoir cap off and started the engine. Within just a few minutes, and with cap off, coolant began to build up in the reservoir and then started overflowing out of cap opening. My question(s) are this. Is this normal? Especially with cap off. The temp gauge showed very little temp. Is there maybe some kind of blockage? I saw no signs of coolant curculating in reservoir, just backing up. Thermostat, radiator, temp sending unit, gooseneck, and water pump are all new. By the way this is a quad 4, if that helps.
