1990 Pontiac Grand Am intermittly dies puting it in gear

Hi I have 1990 pontiac with tech4 4cylender in it. Intermittily the car stumbles and dies when putting it in gear. Starts right back up idlles fine put it in gear and dies. Wait a few min. Start it up put it in gear and drive away. NOTE. Tcc is opperating normal. Coulld this be an ign. Modual? Thanks for your time I dont have very much money but I will donate what I can. THANKS

It could be an ignition module, but they usually take time to heat up before causing problems.

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked the EGR? Vacuum leaks?

No engine light and checked for codes, none.
Yes I checked all vacume leaks, none found. Checked egr. Ok.
The problem happends only when warmed up and is very intermitently. Doesnt do it all the time. Thanks for your time.

I would be looking at the ign module or fuel pump pressure. Have you checked fuel pump pressure when this happens? Here is a how to:

Fuel pressure is 12-13 psi when it happends. Pulled ing. Modual off and checked for cracks in ckp sensor. All looked good no crosion on modual and conections good. Man im confused. This car is kicking my but. I tapped tested the pcm. Good.

According to my information, fuel pressure should be as follows:

40-47 PSI for Key On Engine Off (KOEO)

30-44 PSI for Key On Engine Running (KOER)

Its a 2.5L 4 tech throttle body man. Isnt it 14-17 psi on throttle bodys? If it was the quad 4 2.3L it would be 40-47 psi. Not trying to be a smart ass just trying to fix the car right. And wrong info isnt gona help me none. Please let me know if THE CORRECT PSI is 40-47 or 14-17 psi on THROTTLE BODY INJECTION. KOEO

I could have sworn I read it was the quad 4. If it's the tech 4, you are correct.
