2008 Pontiac G6 Thump every 1/4 turn

2008 Pontiac G6 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Every time I turn to the right the steering column makes a small thump every 1/4 turn. Is this a major problem or an alinment issue?

replace the intermediate shaft.very common problem.
