I have the same problems described above with sluggish performance, hard to shift, high rpm and service engine light on. Code error is P0420 done at AutoZone with description of "catalyst efficiency low-bank 1". I'm suspecting most likely cause to be O2 sensor but not sure its a good idea to throw parts at it till I'm sure. Any suggestions?

replace the catalytic converter.you can do an exhaust back pressure test to make sure, but a p0420 is usually a cat converter.
