I own a 1996 Trans Am ws-6 with 80,000 miles. It has a 6 speed manual transmission. My question is when I try and start the car the starter will not engage. The starter is new and has been tested and the clutch pedal switch is ok too. All the connections are tight and clean. When the key is turned to the on position everything works properly. But the car will not turn over when the key is turned to the start position. The car will start if I put a remote starter from the battery to the starter. What else could be the problem?

If the power is not passing through the starter relay to the starter it will not engage, check the relay, or swap it out with one on the same kind, let us know
