'96 3800 V6 Firebird

I had my idler pully come apart on me. When it flew off, it hit something directly over the oil filter and broke it in half. It looks like some sort of sencer. I really need to know what it is.

Hey if's it's black and long about 3 to 4 inches before it was broken it was probably your oil temperature switch. You can get one at any autozone for about 50 bucks.
