87 Firebird

My 87 Firebird starts and idles, but loses RPM's and dies when I put it into drive. Approx. 100,000 miles on it. Engine is between 1987 and 1992 Corvette, either an LS1 or an L90.
Don't know which one as I bought it from a 16 year old girl. Her father built it for her. Haven't met the father, and the mother doesn't know jack about the car. Can you help, please?

Can u drive it
Check fuel pressure
Also check timing
if pressure is ok try to advance timing a bit
